It is with deep sadness that we announce that on Sunday, October 31, 2021, in the 97th year of a sacrificial life, one of the founders of the Ukrainian Free University Foundation, its first chairman, an honorary doctor of the Ukrainian Free University and a long-time worker in the public field, ended his earthly journey. Ukraine and in the diaspora memorial Ivan BURTYK was born on December 13, 1924 in the village of Liatsk-Shliahotsk in the Carpathian region. It is with deep sadness that we announce that on September 20, 2021, at the age of 93, in Columbus, OH, the long-time financier of the Foundation, long-time member of the Foundation Board, long-time trustee of the Foundation, including the term of 2021-2022 St. Mr. Yaroslav OBERISHYN St. Mr. Yaroslav worked for many years at Kreditivka Samopomich New York. He supported many public organizations, in particular the church of St. Yura and Plast. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a kind, calm person, modest and self-sacrificing. Buried St. Mr. Yaroslav Oberyshyn at the cemetery of St. Spirit at Campbell Hall, NY, near wife Gali and family. Eternal memory to Him!

Laureates of the Literary and Scientific Competition of the UVU Foundation named after Volyanik-Shwabinsky for works published in 2019

The jury of the Foundation of the Ukrainian Free University (FUU), consisting of Maria Polishchuk, Olga Volyanyk-Kuzyshyn, Leonid Rudnytskyi, Ihor Mirchuk, and Ihor Nikolyuk, made the final decision regarding awarding prizes to the laureates of the Literary and Scientific Competition named after Volyanik-Shwabinsky for works published in 2019. The first prize was awarded to Volodymyr Svyatnenko for the novel "Samurai. Ukrainian history". The author depicts the events of the Kholodnoyarsk Republic. Considerable attention is paid in the book to the analysis of the difference between the psychology of Ukrainians and Russians and the similarity of the mentality of Ukrainian Cossacks and Japanese samurai in the struggle for justice and independence of their state. Відбулися річні загальні збори Фундації УВУ

27 березня 2021 рокувідбулися річні загальні збори членів Фундації Українського Вільного Університету. Через пандемію коронавірусу цей захід відбувся повністю віртуально. Зборами провадила президія у складі: Аскольд Лозинський – голова, Степан Слуцький – секретар. Збори обрали Номінаційну комісію у складі Богдан Гаргай, Леонід Рудницький і Ольга Воляник. Учасники заслухали інформацію про діяльність Українського Вільного Університету (УВУ) від ректора Марії Пришляк та звіти голови фундації А. Лозинського, заступників голови Л. З глибоким смутком повідомляємо українську громаду, що 12 березня 2021 року відійшов у засвіти довголітній член Фундації Українського Вільного Унівесритету, дійсний член Наукового Товариства Шевченка (США) св. п. д-р Олександер ЛУЖНИЦЬКИЙ педагог, редактор, громадський i освітний дiяч, голова Філядельфійського Реґіонального Комітету Енциклопедії Української Діяспори. Народився 28 вересня 1940 року у м. Львів. Вищу освіту здобув в Ла Саль (La Salle) Коледж (1961) та Пенсильванському Університеті (1964). Працював директором «Нашої Української Школи» (1964-1976), директором «Нашої Української Рідної Школи» (1990-2003), екзекутивним заступником Шкільної Ради (2001-2010), інспектором українських шкіл в Америці. The Foundation of the Ukrainian Free University (FUU) announces the Literary and Scientific Competition among publications of 2020. The winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes from the Foundation, established on December 31, 1997 by the families of Stefan and Emilia Volyanik and Theodore and Sofia Schwabinski from Ohio in the USA, as well as from additional funds donated by the Foundation itself. The competition is held every year. Bohdan Kachor passed away

У понеділок,  22 лютого 2021 року, на 97-му році життя, в Кергонксоні, Ню-Йорк, відійшов у вічність український суспільно-культурний та політичний діяч, голова Світової ліґи українських політичних в’язнів Богдан Качор. Він народився 14 листопада 1924 року в селі Лешнів Бродівського повіту (тепер – Золочівського району Львівської области) у сім’ї місцевих селян. У часи німецької окупації навчався у Бродівській торговельній школі, належав до Юнацтва ОУН та виконував функції зв’язкового. Влітку 1943 року за підпільну націоналістичну діяльність був заарештований ґестапо, перебував у тюрмах Бродів, Золочева та Лонцького у Львові. МЮНХЕН. – Верховна Рада України проголосувала за святкування 100-річчя Українського Вільного Університету (УВУ) на державному рівні у 2021 році. Проєкт постанови підготував Комітет з питань гуманітарної та інформаційної політики.  Вперше за 100 років існування УВУ його ювілей відзначатимуть в Україні на загальнодержавному рівні, а ювілейна дата 17  січня 1921 року оголошена днем УВУ в Україні. У рамках святкувань Національний банк України випустить ювілейну монету на честь УВУ та буде проведено ряд урочистих та науково-культурних заходів.
