Although our primary purpose is the support of Ukrainian education particularly at the Ukrainian Free University and the encouragement of young writers through our literary competition, the critical situation in Ukraine has compelled us to focus our efforts on war relief. In particular, since our students come from Ukraine mostly we are helping to provide a safe environment by furnishing the following: ambulances, bullet proof vests, helmets, reconnaissance drones, communication and night vision equipment. The annual meeting of the UVU Foundation took place

On March 26, the annual general meeting of the members of the Foundation of the Ukrainian Free University (FUU) was held. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this event took place completely virtually. The meetings were conducted by the presidium consisting of: Askold Lozynskyi - chairman, Stefan Slutskyi - secretary. The meeting re-elected the Nomination Commission in the following composition: Andriy Lastovetskyi, Olga Volyanyk and Ruslana Rossi. The literary and scientific competition of the UVU Foundation among works published in 2021 is announced

The Foundation of the Ukrainian Free University (FUU) announces the 2021 literary and scientific publication competition. Winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes from the Foundation, established on December 31, 1997 by the families of Stefan and Emilia Volyanik and Theodore and Sophia Schwabinski from Ohio, as well as from additional funds donated by the Foundation itself. The competition is held every year. The laureates of the FUVU competition named after Volyanik-Shwabinsky

The jury consisting of Olga Volyanyk-Kuzyshyn, Ihor Nikolyuk, Larisa Zanyk and Hanna Dudyk made a decision to honor the participants of the literary and scientific competition named after the Volyanyk-Shwabinsky Foundation of the Ukrainian Free University for works published in 2020. The first prize was awarded to Roman Horak for the biography of Vasyl Stefanyk, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the outstanding classic writer and public figure, a prominent master of the psychological novel, storyteller, world-class short story writer.
