The annual meeting of the UVU Foundation took place

On March 26, the annual general meeting of the members of the Foundation of the Ukrainian Free University (FUU) was held. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this event took place completely virtually. The meetings were conducted by the presidium consisting of: Askold Lozynskyi - chairman, Stefan Slutskyi - secretary. The meeting re-elected the Nomination Commission in the following composition: Andriy Lastovetskyi, Olga Volyanyk and Ruslana Rossi. The literary and scientific competition of the UVU Foundation among works published in 2021 is announced

The Foundation of the Ukrainian Free University (FUU) announces the 2021 literary and scientific publication competition. Winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes from the Foundation, established on December 31, 1997 by the families of Stefan and Emilia Volyanik and Theodore and Sophia Schwabinski from Ohio, as well as from additional funds donated by the Foundation itself. The competition is held every year. The laureates of the FUVU competition named after Volyanik-Shwabinsky

The jury consisting of Olga Volyanyk-Kuzyshyn, Ihor Nikolyuk, Larisa Zanyk and Hanna Dudyk made a decision to honor the participants of the literary and scientific competition named after the Volyanyk-Shwabinsky Foundation of the Ukrainian Free University for works published in 2020. The first prize was awarded to Roman Horak for the biography of Vasyl Stefanyk, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the outstanding classic writer and public figure, a prominent master of the psychological novel, storyteller, world-class short story writer. Laureates of the Literary and Scientific Competition of the UVU Foundation named after Volyanik-Shwabinsky for works published in 2019

The jury of the Foundation of the Ukrainian Free University (FUU), consisting of Maria Polishchuk, Olga Volyanyk-Kuzyshyn, Leonid Rudnytskyi, Ihor Mirchuk, and Ihor Nikolyuk, made the final decision regarding awarding prizes to the laureates of the Literary and Scientific Competition named after Volyanik-Shwabinsky for works published in 2019. The first prize was awarded to Volodymyr Svyatnenko for the novel "Samurai. Ukrainian history". The author depicts the events of the Kholodnoyarsk Republic. Considerable attention is paid in the book to the analysis of the difference between the psychology of Ukrainians and Russians and the similarity of the mentality of Ukrainian Cossacks and Japanese samurai in the struggle for justice and independence of their state. 27 березня 2021 рокувідбулися річні загальні збори членів Фундації Українського Вільного Університету. Через пандемію коронавірусу цей захід відбувся повністю віртуально. З глибоким смутком повідомляємо українську громаду, що 12 березня 2021 року відійшов у засвіти довголітній член Фундації Українського Вільного Унівесритету, дійсний член Наукового Товариства Шевченка (США) св. п. д-р Олександер ЛУЖНИЦЬКИЙ педагог, редактор, громадський i освітний дiяч, голова Філядельфійського Реґіонального Комітету Енциклопедії Української Діяспори. Народився 28 вересня 1940 року у м. Львів. Вищу освіту здобув в Ла Саль (La Salle) Коледж (1961) та Пенсильванському Університеті (1964).
