Управа Фундації Українського Вільного Університету ділиться сумною вісткою зі своїм членством і українською громадою, що в суботу вранці, 29 вересня 2007 р., після короткої і тяжкої недуги, відійшла у вічність світлої пам’яті Олена-Леся ҐОЙ з дому Станчак У глибокому смутку залишила — доньку Марусю; — сина Юрія з родиною та ближчу і дальшу родину в Америці й Україні. Опечаленій родині Управа Фундації УВУ складає глибокі співчуття. Вічна Їй пам’ять!

For almost a century now, the pride of the Ukrainian diaspora — the Ukrainian Free University in Munich — has been proudly flying in the center of Europe for the glory of Ukraine. Yes, I was not mistaken - it is the pride of the Ukrainian diaspora. And what is the position of the Ukrainian State in the matter of the Ukrainian State University? I will try to answer this question later. Since its establishment, UVU has always been in the process of searching for the continuity of the process of its scientific and teaching work. History itself dictated the conditions for implementing the necessary changes for the sake of the future. I learned about the existence of this legendary educational institution for the first time from the Internet, planning to get a doctoral education abroad and being interested in educational institutions in Germany. I remember that I was pleasantly surprised that such a university existed at all, because I had never heard of it before, just as most of my fellow students in Ukraine had never heard of UVU. After getting to know UVU better, I realized that it is the first higher educational institution and scientific institution of the Ukrainian emigration abroad with its glorious historical past.
